This book is the output of the International Development Research centre (IDRC)sponsored research project implemented between 1993 and March 1999 by Arya VaidyaSala. Twenty species of medicinal plants growing predominantly in the Westernghats of Southern India were selected for an in-depth study. These species were selected because of the high demand for them. Information of distribution, parts of plants extensively used in medicines. The results of intensive pharmacognostic study are provided to serve as a reference material for checking adulteration.
